We hope you will consider joining the Maine Professional Photographers Association and become involved in Maine’s largest organized group of professional photographers!

The MPPA provides a place where Maine photographers can gain support from their peers and grow in their craft. We offer programs taught by top industry professionals, an annual convention with professional image competition, and most especially, the opportunity to earn professional credentials in the field of photography that are recognized nationally and will help set you apart.

Hybrid Education

Each year, the MPPA invites nationally recognized, industry experts, who are leaders in their field, to conduct in person workshops and online lectures for our members in the wedding, portrait and commercial communities. Here's our event page with upcoming and past events. The MPPA also hosts an annual 3 day (plus 1 bonus day) in person convention that is included in your membership rate.

Networking

The MPPA offers an opportunity to network with fellow professionals, and receive and give information that is critical to the success of a photographic business, in any economy. Our network also provides a forum to meet new people, exchange ideas and share our common love of photography.

Marketing

The MPPA helps to market their members and put them in touch with clients who are seeking professional photographers. Every MPPA member has a profile on our website that includes their contact info and a link to their photography website. Additionally, the MPPA website offers potential clients the ability to search for photographers by name, or by specialty, further increasing the chances they will be found. Professional Credentials

The MPPA offers its members the unique opportunity to earn professional credits and merits within the Professional Photographers of America. Merits can be earned through service, education, and by demonstrating photographic skill through print competition. Many merits earned in the MPPA can help contribute to national recognition and honors from the Professional Photographers of America, including Master of Photography, Master of Wedding Photography, Master Artist and Photographic Craftsmen. You can also earn MPPA awards and recognition for attending events, competing in image competition, teaching and volunteering.

ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP & CONVENTION - $175.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) For all professional photographers of ethical standard who operate or work for a photographic studio or business. Members who reside in Maine fewer than six (6) months per calendar year, shall not have the right to vote or hold office.
**Does not include convention banquet - that can be added separately when registering for convention.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP & CONVENTION - $100.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) For all persons, such as a spouse, significant other, employee, etc. who is associated with a studio or business of an active member. Associate members will have the power to vote, as well as hold office.
**Does NOT include Convention Banquet. That can be added at the time of convention registration.

RETIRED MEMBERSHIP & CONVENTION - $100.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) For members in good standing no longer actively working within the field of professional photography that have attained the age of 60 and have maintained 15 years of consecutive membership to the Association. Retired members shall enjoy all the privileges of active membership.
**Does not include convention banquet. That can be added at the time of convention registration

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP & CONVENTION - $100.00 (USD) Subscription period: 1 year Automatic renewal (recurring payments) For any full-time student who is either a resident of Maine or attending a photographic school within the State of Maine and is in good standing. Student members will not have power to vote or hold office. Proof of student status is required upon application.
**Does not include convention banquet - that can be added when registering for convention
